Breakdown at Bangor

Thursday 13th July 2000

The re-casting of loco-hauled diagrams to cope with the delayed introduction of the class 175 Coradia units also afforded class 37 fans the opportunity of seeing these vintage locomotives cross at Bangor twice daily during the week. I changed my habits accordingly, taking in the early morning pair on my way to work and then a late lunch to see the 13:48 departure to Holyhead and the 13:49 to Manchester. Today I was surprised to find a dead 37 426 with an empty rake of stock occupying the westbound platform 2.

A few minutes later, 37 425 Concrete Bob arrives with the 13:48. This is the 12:19 Crewe - Holyhead.

Concrete Bob gently runs up to the stock of 426
