We set off from home around 11:30 and at Bontnewydd joined the cycle track
which shares part of the trackbed of the Bangor to Afon Wen line with the
Welsh Highland Railway. All was quiet at Dinas with no trains passing between
11:15 and 13:30 so after recording this peaceful scene we pressed on towards
Porthmadog.
Near Penygroes yet another new road was under construction, compromising the trackbed and forcing a detour of the cycle track. This will run parallel to the cycle track for a couple of miles so cyclists will soon be accompanied by the drone of motor traffic rather than by birdsong on this stretch.

All the action was at the Ffestiniog today as they were staging an Anything
Goes weekend. We picnicked at the end of the Cob and watched Taliesin
arrive with the vintage train, including some ancient four wheelers and examples
of the world's first bogie coaches.

Here's the tail end of the train

Busy scene at the Ffestiniog's Harbour Station

We're at the far side of the Cob now - Christine and Rowan watch as Prince
leads Earl of Meirionydd towards Blaenau Ffestiniog. These trains seem
fast when you're this close!
Boston Lodge works were staging an open day but we were well into the afternoon and wanted to return home via Beddgelert so we reluctantly gave it a miss.
