First 67 on the coast

The charter arrives with its rake of SR green Mk 1 coaches

Shiny new 67 028 follows the 1960s veteran onto the headshunt

...before it too runs round its stock...

...past the Wales and West Alphaline...

...and is coupled at the head of the train ready to return to London. Before then, the daytrippers were allowed a couple of hours to look round Holyhead so we rode back home, stopping to photograph the return trip by the Brittania Bridge. We waited here for twenty minutes before giving up, guessing correctly that something had gone awry.

It later transpired that 67 028 had failed at Gaerwen, a loco had to be summoned from Warrington and the special was very late back.
