Sunday Afternoon Virgin HSTs at Bangor

Most Virgin Euston to Holyhead services are formed of HST sets. For a few weeks at the beginning of 1999, engineering work resulted in Sunday services terminating at Bangor, buses taking ferry passengers to and from Holyhead. This produced the unusual sight of two HST sets in Bangor station.

On 24th January 43 014 prepares to take the 14:43 to Euston while 43 070 can enjoy another two hours rest before following with the16:40

Virgin-liveried 43 084 and 43 154 are at the rear of these trains

On 31st January 43 157 HMS Penzance is at the rear of the 14:43 to Euston while 43 084 County of Derbyshire is the rear power car of the set which will form the 16:40

Just as the previous week we have InterCity branding on the leading power cars. This time 43 197 Railway Magazine Centenary will be first out, followed by 43 014

A normal day: 43 154 is the trailing power car on this up Sunday afternoon service on 16th May 1999
