The sun came out soon after the Castle had departed, but we had a long wait
watching units and wandering round Llandudno Junction before 37 428
brought the 12:07 from Birmingham into platform 3 almost an hour late. We'd
considered taking this to Holyhead and returning to Bangor for 5029's return,
but such was the delay, coupled with warnings of flooding on Anglesey, that
we played safe and alighted at Bangor for a long vigil.
The chocolate and cream vehicle is Mk 1 FK 13227, vandalised recently by drunken boat train passengers but thankfully back in action. The well padded upholstery is a class apart from the hard thin seats of the new class 175 units and a stark illustration of the dramatic fall in standards of comfort on our railway system.
37 428 returns at around the time Nunney Castle should have
been here - and we could have been on this train!

Six o'clock was approaching when Nunney Castle made its dramatic entry
into Bangor station.

After a short wait on platform 1, 5029 disappeared into the night
