Virgin's new trains on crew training runs
Virgin commenced crew training on their horrible new Voyagers in August 2004
to prepare for them taking over from loco-hauled stock at September's timetable
change. A class 221 passes through Llanfair PG on 18th August on its way back
to Crewe.
Another of the nasty things slithers through Bangor on the down fast.
Gordon Bennett! Actually it's Scott Tracy, 57 001,
dragging a Pendolino set on the same day.
This was the first successful test of Virgin's barmy idea of dragging a Pendolino
emu between Crewe and Holyhead to satisfy North Wales MPs need for a full
breakfast on Monday mornings.
The ludicrous ensemble departs
A repeat run was undertaken the following Thursday. The same loco was used
but a different Pendolino set.
