We were on the move again after a 35 minute delay, which was reduced to 30
minutes by the time we arrived at Holyhead despite lots of passengers alighting
at Llandudno Junction and Bangor.

As I dashed over the road to photograph this scene, an Irish rugby fan clutching a can of lager followed me... "are you photographing a train?". He was taken aback by my sharp reply and said he was just interested why anyone would want to photograph a train. I told him these were vintage machines over forty years old and that's why they generated such interest. Maybe I should be less prickly about such challenges and try to explain - most people could recognise an old car as a vintage model but see a locomotive as just a train.
