The Llandudno Shunt

5th June 2000

37 421 once sported the Regional Railways livery but was repainted into the dull EWS maroon and yellow, losing its The Kingsman nameplate at the same time. It enters Llandudno station in charge of the 17:19 from Manchester Piccadilly, a welcome if temporary return to locomotive haulage to the town after a long absence.

This train was very popular with Manchester based enthusiasts, who could board at Piccadilly after a day at work for an evening run.

The shunter had to travel from Holyhead to facilitate the run-round

Once again, 37 421 passes under that magnificent gantry

The 19:54 will soon return to Manchester
