Class 37 Farewell Tours

The Club remembered 2000

Blackpool North still boasts an impressive array of semaphore signals

After returning to Preston, where the other pair were detached, we dashed up the west coast then along the wonderfully scenic branch to Barrow.

Our locos mingled briefly with the stabled sprinters at this railway outpost

They then returned past the signal box to prepare for the journey back to Crewe. It was another wonderful day out, including our first ever visit to Barrow and marred only by yobs throwing a brick through the window of one of the rear coaches near Manchester. It was almost dark by the time we arrived back at Crewe and we had only half an hour or so to wait for our train home.

Thanks to all who worked hard to organise and operate these two memorable days.
