We joined 1D65 at Bangor for the ride across Anglesey and the run-round at
Holyhead. It was the day before an Ireland v Wales rugby international and
the ferry terminal was busy with optimistic rugby fans - misplaced optimism
as it turned out, as Wales lost.

Virgin liveried 47 750 was out again

Only 20 minutes span the scheduled arrival and the departure times so fast
work is needed when the incoming train is ten minutes late, as it was today.
The task was accomplished in the nick of time and we left punctually at 12:45

The seventeen hoppers used for the Rio Tinto Zinc traffic still languish in
the sidings a mile or so outside Holyhead.

We alight at Chester and photograph 47 750 departing. 47
776 Respected is biding its time in the sidings with the
other rake, which it will later take to Manchester where we will board for
our journey home.
