I caught a unit to Crewe and the day started well, just managing to grab a
shot of 37 114 City of Worcester as it breezed past
with a Network Rail train. These are my fellow passengers leaving platform
9.

Dumped in the sidings of the closed diesel depot is Transrail liveried 37
889 and an unidentified Load Haul sister.

Sunday engineering work caused Virgin services to Liverpool to be diesel dragged
north of Stafford and I was hoping that 47s would outnumber the 57s. At Crewe
I jumped on the first available service to Stafford for the first drag of
the day, 1F13 11:53 Stafford to Liverpool but...
I'd suffered a Voyager for 57 312 The Hood!
Quickly I figured out that if I caught the next service back to Crewe I'd be there in time for the 11:15 from Liverpool

This turned out to be 57 305 John Tracy and the
day's early promise was fading fast
If I'd caught this back to Stafford I'd have had it again back north so I decided to wait for 312 to arrive from Stafford. The big quandary here was whether to take it all the way or bail out at Warrington.

I took the latter course, here's 57 312 departing Bank Quay
