Traction in Transition

The preseved Llangollen railway held a Traction in Transition event to commemorate the period in the 1960s when steam power gave way to diesel.
We lunched at the excellent Corn Mill restaurant which also serves excellent
beer and features an uninterrupted view of Llangollen station. D8142
arrives and we finish our meal in time to ride back behind it to Carrog.
In the last few years of steam, chalked teardrops were a common sight on smokebox
doors.
The type 1 made English Electric music and we listened out of the windows,
snapping these diesel multiple units on the way.
Our loco waits its next duty, we're going to get more power for the return
trip.
