We drove to Cardiff and stayed overnight, as Christine was competing in a
swimming gala and we were staying with friends for a couple of nights on the
way back. So we missed out on a 47 hauled ride down the Marches but were able
to get to Cardiff Central in time for the 08:59 to Rhymney. 37 425
was waiting in the sun for platform 6 to be clear but a late-running unit
delayed it.

The delay was such that 37 411 arrived first with the 08:01
from Rhymney

The original number D6990 is also displayed. It's unusual
to get the two "repaints" in the same frame.

The large logo loco appears and the sun disappears, that's the last we saw
of it.

This is the end of the platform at Rhymney. It was customary for photographers
to walk the short distance to the public footpath which crosses the line,
but the authorities decided to take a stand against what is technically trespassing
and went to the trouble of erecting warning signs. It's still possible to
cross the track, but you have to walk out of the station and round. I couldn't
be bothered, so stayed on the platform.
