Often nothing special is done for the last one, and the last Virgin 47 out of Holyhead is no exception, it didn't have a headboard or ceremony. The most boring 47 was chosen and the Mark 3 coaches were very tatty. On the same day but a long way away was the last 37 to Fishguard and also over the Settle and Carlisle. This was the final day of the last summer timetable ever, as the timetables will changed in June and December (very silly) as the rest of Europe.

10:38 - 47851 or D1648 in original two-tone green would be a good choice for the last
one but was unfortunately sent out on 1A39 09:20 from Holyhead instead which I
caught to Prestatyn. This fine loco is lumbered with its silly Traction
Magazine name.
