Weymouth & Fishguard 2004

There are very few loco-hauled trains in the summer of 2004 these are:
31s on two Bristol-Weymouth returns, Blackpool-Manchester commuter and on Fridays only Bristol-Brighton, 37s to Rhymney, Fishguard (dated service) and from Leeds to Carlisle, 47s on Crewe-Holyhead sections of the three trains a day from London and 67s on holiday trains to Paignton on peak Saturdays.

21 July

11:36 - I caught the 1A49 09:20 Holyhead - London behind 47810 PORTERBROOK from Bangor to Crewe where it is being removed ...

11:51 - ... and replaced by unnamed and unbranded 87028 for its journey south to London

12:03 - 47810 is moved to platform 3

I travelled on the 158 to Shrewsbury, then very dirty 153 to Llandrindod and had a few hours there (not much for a place) before catching 37406 on the special Royal Welsh show train to Cardiff. The light was dull at this time so no photo of 37406 at Llandrindod is available and arrived at Cardiff in the dark. The scenery is nothing special on the Heart of Wales line.

On to Bristol
