Crewe 'Drags'

24 November 2002

The electrified West Coast mainline from Crewe - Liverpool and Crewe - Preston are closed on Sundays between 30 September 2002 and 5 January 2003. The last series of 'Drags' using Class 47s has made these Sundays an opportunity not to be missed, so I decided have a trip to Crewe.

On arrival at Crewe I saw 47812 Pride of Eastleigh dragging 87001 Royal Scot on the 1P57 to Preston

47757 Restitution departs with the 1F13 to Liverpool running 40 minutes late. This train is the wrong way round with the DVT on the front and 90009 The Economist on the rear

47787 Windsor Castle is about to be detached off the 1A45 from Preston with 90014 on the rear

47848 Newton Abbott Fesival of Transport dragging 87006 George Reynolds on the 1F15 to Liverpool

There are 3 locomotives on this train!!! 47786 Roy Castle OBE brings in the 1A55 11:55 from Liverpool with 87017 on the front and 87018 dead on the rear.
