The nearest railway station to Graianfryn is Bangor, 7 miles away.
Most trains serving Bangor originate at Cardiff, Crewe or Manchester, though there
are a few direct trains from London Euston.
Average daytime frequency is one per hour from Manchester and one per hour
from Crewe. The Manchester service normally requires a change of trains at
Chester. If you're coming on the ferry from Ireland you can take the train
from Holyhead to Bangor, this takes about half an hour.

You can board at the bus stand just outside the station near the telephone kiosks except for Sunday and some weekday evening buses.
Ask the driver to drop you at the Deiniolen turning, then walk down the hill, turn right towards Penisarwaun then immediately right down the track and you will find Graianfryn on your right (see map below).

Even better, bring your bike on the train and explore Snowdonia and Anglesey on two wheels. Most trains can carry only two bikes so cycle reservation tickets are recommended. We use this combination whenever we can for longer distance UK travel so ask us if you need some tips.
From the North and East
Graianfryn is within five miles of the A55 Expressway which is linked to the
motorway network.
From the A55, take the Bangor/Bethesda exit.
At the roundabout at the end of the slip road, turn along the A5 towards Bethesda
but immediately move over to the right-hand lane and turn right at another roundabout,
signposted A4244 Llanberis, passing the services and petrol station on your
right. (If you have an old map, this road may be marked as the B4366).
After 3 miles you will encounter another roundabout - turn left here still along
the A4244, again signposted Llanberis.
1.75 miles further on, as you approach the top of a long hill, you will pass
the Beran Petrol Station (Texaco).
As you descend the other side of the hill, take the next right turning signposted
Penisarwaun and then turn immediately right again down
a farm track.

From the South or the Midlands
Take the A5 as far as Capel Curig, then turn left on the A4086, signposted Caernarfon,
Llanberis and Beddgelert.
After a few miles, turn right towards Llanberis - this is still the A4086.
This road takes you over the Llanberis pass; at the top of the pass is the Pen
y Pass Youth Hostel and the start of the Miners and Pyg Tracks up Snowdon.
Descend the pass and drive through Nant Peris and along the Llanberis by-pass,
passing the lake on your right.
A mile or so after Llanberis, turn right along the A4244, signposted Bangor.
(If you have an old map, this road may be marked as the B4366). After climbing
the hill, ignore the first turning for Penisarwaun (on your left) but take the
next turning signposted Penisarwaun and then turn immediately
right again down a farm track.

From the West
Follow the A55 east from Holyhead and after crossing the Britannia Bridge which
links Anglesey to the mainland, take the first turning on your left, signposted
A487 Bangor and Caernarfon. At the roundabout, follow directions
to Caernarfon, which will take you over more roundabouts then down a long fairly
steep hill with a large roundabout at the bottom.
Take the last exit, signposted B4547 Felinheli and Llanberis.
Take the first left, signposted B4547 Llanberis and you
will climb a steep wooded hill then proceed until you reach a roundabout - go
straight across along the A4244, still signposted Llanberis.
1.75 miles further on, as you approach the top of a long hill, you will pass

From South Wales
From Dolgellau take the A470, signposted Porthmadog and Betws y Coed.
After 16 miles this becomes the A487, signposted Porthmadog. After another
12 miles you will pass through Porthmadog - keep on the A487 towards Caernarfon
and head for the town centre. Turn left down the slip road off the elevated
by-pass, signposted A4086 Llanberis and turn right at the next two roundabouts,
following directions to Llanberis.
Go through Llanrug then turn left along the A4244. (If you have an old
map, this road may be marked as the B4366).
After climbing the hill, ignore the first turning for Penisarwaun (on your left)
but take the next turning signposted Penisarwaun and then turn immediately
right again down a farm track.
